Albasia wood is also known as Sengon (Latin name: Albizia falcata). The natural color of Albasia timber is a very light yellowish tone and it belongs to the pine family, although it is lighter in weight than most pine species. It is a popular plywood choice in parts of Asia and is mainly found in Indonesia. Albasia can easily grow in different climates, but it mostly thrives in areas where rainfall is frequent. For this reason, it is widely available in large quantities across most parts of Indonesia and grows very quickly. The Albasia tree can reach a diameter of up to 1 meter and a height of around 30 meters. Albizia falcata is a softwood, which is why it is mainly used for indoor constructions. It is easy to process yet quite durable. This wood is also not easily attacked by subterranean termites due to the presence of natural extractive substances in the timber.
