Soft PVC cord is flexible while also being resistant to abrasion and wear. It withstands most inorganic chemicals, such as acids and alkalis, making it suitable for use in a variety of environments. It is also resistant to moisture and can be used outdoors. However, prolonged exposure to UV radiation may reduce its flexibility and lead to cracking. For this reason, specially designed cords are often used for outdoor applications. Additionally, PVC is flame-retardant and self-extinguishing, mainly due to its high chlorine content.
